Zack Snyder’s Justice League, 2021 – ★★★

To be honest I wasn’t a hater of the theatrical cut. It had felt like it had been trimmed for the duration leaving stands of it incomplete for the next chapter, but I’d felt the same way for its prequel. I’d also felt that these were pieces of a puzzle coming together slowly film by film and that given time, by the time they got to the end of the whole Darkseid story, it’d all make sense.

Almost 4 years on, we get the “cut” that was supposed to fix everything! Now, I feel that maybe I was too forgiving then. It all makes a lot more sense with this cut in its completeness, but it’s also a bit more juvenile than I remember it being. The “monsters” are just a bit too much a caricature of themselves. This may have always been the case, but I’m not going to be in any rush to go re-watch.

All-in-all, this felt like a tickbox that needed ticking than a watch I was excited about. This is after the fact of course. There was an itch of curiosity to watch it, but the result has been far from profound. Meh.
