Red Finger, 2011 – ★★★

After seeing “The Crimes That Bind”, and already being a fan of Inspector Kaga from the novels “Malice” and “Newcomer”, I went into this one, to see what else had been done in the visual medium.

For a TV-Movie, it does indulge in the pre-advertisement moments with melodrama, but there’s no denying it navigates well around the mystery. Something I’ve always felt the East manages extremely well. Having a lot of heart and emotion. This was no exception. The mystery itself was more a how will he crack it than a whodunit, but still manages to throw some neat surprises.

Perhaps not for all considering the pacing, but I did enjoy it for what it was.
